Mangosteen

Mangosteen is found in Southeast Asia and has a purple rind with white flesh. The purple rind is a major source of several types of super antioxidants called xanthones and is sometimes ground into a powder to make tea for medicinal purposes.

Xanthones are beneficial in digestive heath, immunity and free radical scavenging. They also have anti-inflammatory properties which make them useful for combating arthritis symptoms and promoting healthy lung function.

Mangosteen contains other phytochemical such as catechins and proanthocyanidins; both of which have highly powerful antioxidant properties. Antioxidants are highly important in the human body because of their ability to repair and prevent cell damage.
